How to convert iPhone HEIC photos to JPG

iPhones save photos as HEIC by default. It’s a good format — about half the size of a JPG at the same quality — but many Windows PCs, Android phones, websites and upload forms can’t open it. Converting to JPG fixes that.

Convert HEIC photos to JPG

1. Open HEIC to JPG and select your photos. You can add many at once.
2. Leave the quality at 90 — it looks identical to the original — or lower it for smaller files.
3. Click Convert to JPG and download the photos, or all of them together as a ZIP.

Photos come out the right way up, and the hidden camera details such as GPS location are removed. To make a PDF from HEIC photos — for a receipt or a document — add them straight to Images to PDF.

Make your iPhone take JPG photos instead

• Go to Settings › Camera › Formats and choose Most Compatible. New photos are saved as JPG (they take more space).
• Or keep HEIC and let the iPhone convert when you copy photos to a computer by cable: Settings › Photos › Transfer to Mac or PC › Automatic.

Opening HEIC on Windows

Windows can open HEIC once the right extensions from the Microsoft Store are installed, and one of them costs money in many regions. Converting to JPG is simpler when you only need a few photos, or need to send them to someone else.
